Turbo engine and capless fueling in store for Lincoln's new flagship
Lincoln will enter the 2009 model year with a full sized flagship sedan that will attract new customers to the brand with exclusive features at a great price. The latest from the Ford's luxury division is called the MKS, and it will land above the MKZ as the pinnacle of the Lincoln brand when it hits showrooms this summer.
MKS's double-winged front grille sweeps into jewel-like headlamps, while strong shoulders and dramatic lines help it to exude confidence from any angle. "Every element of this luxury sedan reflects the culture of Lincoln - from its well-proportioned athleticism to the design cues we have painstakingly developed, modernizing the best elements over time," says Peter Horbury, Executive Director of Design.
MKS covers off design and style with no second thought, though several rare or exclusive features help to set it apart as well. These include SYNC, which allows voice-commanded control of wireless devices through integration with the on-board entertainment system. SYNC can play music from a wireless phone, dial a number or read text messages aloud, for instance.
The next-generation of Lincoln's popular keypad system is ready for duty on MKS as well. It's now totally embedded into the B-Pillar and activated by heat. Drivers can simply enter a code into the LED-illuminated panel to access the vehicle- no keys required. They may also choose to simply carry the smart-key fob with them, allowing simple and easy access to the cabin.
Adaptive cruise control and headlights are available too- increasing highway safety and nighttime visibility. Front and rear parking assistance can be specified, as can voice-commanded navigation. No matter the trip, MKS is exceptionally easy to move around in. It's even easier to refuel, thanks to an Easy-Fuel capless filling system which negates the need for a gas-cap while helping to minimize harmful evaporative emissions from the gas tank.
